When Things Really Go Wrong
Sadly my database died an ugly death in late-April, taking with it all the subscribers to Ggreg's List, along with my pithy photo captions, community event calendar, and my own personal contact database.
My core database corrupted, and the corrupted version overwrote my backup. Bummer. Guess I should have treated my hobby website like the ones I create for clients.
For the time being, this website is again in hiaitus until I can rewrite the underlying code. The site had become dusty, so this is a dark silver lining. Expect it to return more useable, nicer looking, and more interactive. Whether the thousands of people who visited it every month return, however, remains to be seen.
As I write this it's mid-May... hmmm, give me til mid-July to have a replacement up and going. I created the prior site to teach myself ASP, so this gives me an excuse to brush up on Flex and ASP.NET.
If you're friend, old or new, and think of it, send me your contact info. High chance I don't have it now, and I'm dreading crawling through my backup CDs and trawling email to put it all back together.
If I don't see you in person, see you online in July.
P.S. One of the most clicked on links on Ggreg.com is the Drag Queen 101 section. I've put it up again for those eccentric enthusiasts out there.
